For most people, the policy of the European Union is something very opaque, which is being shaped far away from the citizens by a few elites in Brussels. However, Europe’s policy is not limited to the EU, but to a large number of other actors. How European is the European Parliament?

Every five years, all EU citizens elect the European Parliament. Though are these really European elections or rather 28 split-off national ones? And furthermore, how do the elected representatives actually work together?
